new member with lots of questions!

Hi all-

Just thought I would introduce myself to the group. My name is Rod and I boat out of Hempstead HArbor, NY-- that's on the north shore of long island just off the Long Island Sound. Boat is a 1985 Grady white with a 1997 Johnson 175 Oceanrunner(carbed, not FICHT). I am trying to learn all I can about the outboard so that I can do the winterizing and maintenance myself. That way I know it's done right and I will probably save a bundle as well !

I have many years boating experience with I/O , small outboards, and diesel auxilliaries in sailboats.

welcome aboard! Richie (Just-in-time) is the main boat mechanic around here but im sure others can help you out with many questions. We have a lot of NY members now

Not much you need to do on that outboard. Change the impeller every two years, DE-CARB on a regular basis, plugs, pour seafoam in your tank, and feed it A LOT of good oil and fuel! :banana:
