View Full Version : Pura Vida!
Great site..... Brings back many fine memorys. I was born an raised in Davis, CA. Caught many fine bass in the El Macero area. And in the Yolo causeway. Fished - Clear lake, Berriessa(sp), and the Sierra mountian streams out of Ione..Hiked upto and fished Desolation Valley (Strawberry) in 1970 with my father (me, only 12 yrs. old). What a trip...100s of trout a day. I see that the majority of this forum's anglers are true Cali. anglers. I was in Bodega Bay, Yono Harbor, Santa Cruz, and Monterey in the early 70's catching monster Rock, and Lings. (from jetty) Then moved to Grand Haven, Mich. This was some of the best fishing of life... I lived on the hill across from the State Park in GH..... The fishing for lake perch, Coho, Kings, Lakers, Browns,Rainbows, and Steelhead will always be with me. Then fishing for bass, bluegills, and northern Pike in the nearby bayous of the Grand River. To be continued..... - My 7 years fishing and living in Oregon, - Living and fishing In Florida, and Living and fishing in Costa Rica........... Pura Vida !

Welcome to the assylum. I threw you out a bone the other night on the 'shout box' there. Guess you were busy with the EZ job of laying pipe!
So now that you're done with the golf circuit for a spell what's your game plan?
If you're done with Elin send her this way. Always room at my place.
I'm originally from Michigan...Tri City area. I can relate to the fine big lake perchin' and the smaller lakes ice fishin' for the northern pike. Both very tasty indeed. Have fished for & caught most of the rest as well. Not much on the coho as I was just a runt when pops would make the runs out for them.
That Desolation Valley action must've been screamin'! I can't get enough of the Sierra myself. Nowadays it's all about the cod, if/when we can get out there. So many darned rules/regs now that you need to carry the handbook in yer back pocket to keep track of what/how many/size and all that.
Appears you been around the bases, not only with the fishing, but with the women as well...LOL. If you get a bit overwhelmed feel free to share some numbers in the little black book...hehe.
Enjoy the show and contribute when you can.

Yeah, was on the job when I threw that one in. 'Bout had things wrapped up when I chimed in. One more 6 hour day and I'm off for the 2 week annual mandatory Christmas Break shutdown. Just one of the perks working for a school district. I'm a 24 year vet, too.
Hey, it's Tiger Woods man! Not many a website forum can take on those bragging rights. Gots ta treat our celebrities with dignity & pride. Maybe I can get him to autograph one of my Rhino Tuff rods. :bbang:
Thanks for the replies. Especially FISH SUR5L (no I will not autograph your Rhino rod). But I do know of some fine Chica's in CR who will do that for an hourly rate! Your great trip reports and photos are the best! Now back to Oregon - I was living in Salem. My favorite rivers included - the North Fork and Little North Fork (Santiam), up Hwy. 22 near Lyons and Gates - Steelhead and Rainbows. The Molalla and Upper Molalla near Scotts Mills - Great Steelhead and a few Cutthroats. - Upper Butte Creek near Scotts Mills (had the key for BLM gates) Cutthroats and native Rainbows caught on Salmon berrys (the plant), up to 12". - The Willamette in Oregon City below the damn - Sturgeon, on smelt (with WD40) Many legals 3 to 6ft. - The Nestucca - From Beaver and up steam. - Fresh Kings, and Steelhead......The lakes - #1 East and Paulina out of Bend. - Large Rainbows caught on inflated night crawlers (with WD40) and this will sound strange - cigarette buts. These fish had seen hundreds of cig. butts in the lake and started to eat them... No Bullshit - I caught many this way. The coast - Newport - large Lings off the N. jetty. Long walk back to truck carrying my limit 60 lbs+ on those fucking rocks . Had to take my reel off and slide them on my rod(broke a few rod guides). I still remember that day..Shit this was over 20 years ago. Hope that my old fishing spots are still going strong....... Cheetah Woods
